Your privacy is important to us. SCMC and its related entities are bound by the (CTH) Privacy Act 1988 when we collect and handle your personal information.
> Information We Collect
At SCMC, we only collect information about you that is reasonably necessary to provide and manage the products or services we offer and develop. The type of information we collect can include (but is not limited to):

- Birth dates
- Contact details
- Income
- Assets and liabilities
- Account balances
- Tax and financial information
- Employment details
- Identification documentation
- Credit history from a credit reporting agency
> Sensitive Information
Sensitive information relates to a person's racial or ethnic origin, membership of political bodies, religions or trade unions, sexual preferences or activities, criminal record, state of health and medical history.
Sensitive information is usually needed for insurance applications and to manage claims on those products. It may also be relevant to credit and other applications. It is our policy that sensitive information will be used and disclosed only for the purposes for which it was provided, unless the customer agrees otherwise or the use or disclosure of this information is allowed by law.
The way we use tax file numbers and information received from a credit reporting agency about an individual is also restricted by law.
> How We Obtain Your Information
There are several ways we obtain information. We may make an exchange of details via phone, fax, letters or email. We might arrange to see you in person, or seek information about you from a third party. Third parties could include insurers, employers, financial institutions, solicitors, credit providers, insurance reference bureaus or credit reference agencies. Any information sought through a third party will be done so with prior consent from you.
> Disclosing Relevant Information
We disclose personal information to third parties when necessary to assist us and them in providing and managing the relevant services and products. Third parties may include insurers, insurance agencies, reinsurers, loss assessors, insurance intermediaries, insurance reference bureaus, credit reference agencies, our/your advisors, persons involved in the claims handling process, Government authorities, courts, tribunals or other dispute resolution bodies. We limit the use and disclosure of any personal information provided by us to a third party, to the specific purpose for which we supplied it. SCMC will make every effort to limit the disclosure of personal information, where possible.
In the event we receive information from you about other individuals, we rely on you to have made them aware that you will or may provide their information to us. In addition, we expect that you will have informed them of the types of third parties that may be given access to their details in the proper provision and management of our relevant services and products. If for some reason they have not given consent, then you must make us aware of this prior to disclosing their information.

It is important that you familiarise yourself with the outlined privacy statement. Following is a statement giving SCMC authority to the collection, use, management and disclosure of your personal information where relevant. Where there is more than one applicant, each applicant must sign before complete authorisation is granted.
SCMC requires your consent to collect, use, manage and disclose your personal information where relevant. This consent is required as part of each application that you may lodge with SCMC.
